There's no secret why walleye fishing has become so popular in recent decades, walleye recipes are a great way to satisfy your freshwater pallet.

First of all, when you bring your walleyes home from the water, they'll need to be properly cleaned. A good article on cleaning walleyes is available at Nodak Outdoors. If you want to go as far as pulling out the blood lines, and removing the walleye cheeks; you'll have the best table fare walleyes can offer. Typically, you'll want smaller walleyes for cleaning for the table. We don't normally take anything under 14" or over 20" unless it's been mortally wounded. This of course, is our ethics; you'll find a wide range of opinions on what size of fish should go to the table, and which should swim away.

Walleyes can be cooked pretty much anyway you would any white fish. It has a great flavor of it's own, so you don't need to dress it up much (in my opinion). The most popular ways to cook walleye are grilled in tinfoil (with butter), pan fried, and walleye coated with breading and fried.
