Having said that I have always wondered why there are so many recipes for such a simple dish. You dip them in a liquid, roll them in cornmeal (and flour if you wish) and fry them. People try to make this a lot more complicated then it is. Just amke sure the oil is hot enough. Now the sides are something entirely different. There are thousands of cole slaw and hush puppy recipes. (I happen to think my coleslaw is the best as described in my cookbook. Help-I Gotta Cook! but that's a matter of taste.
